Inky Paws Challenge #252 Week 4

It's May and it's time for a sketch challenge!

Use the sketch to create your next NND project.

You have until Friday, May 29, 2026 (Midnight, CST) to play along. Each DT member will pick a favorite project to showcase, AND one RANDOM entry will win a $20 store credit to Newton's Nook Design online shop! The winners will be announced on the NND blog the following Monday. Make sure you check the challenge rules page before you link up your project.

Here's some inspiration.

Get creative with this fun sketch. Use the center square to hold your favorite image or sentiment. Try using multiple colors or patterned papers for the layers behind it. Cards for any theme or occasion are welcome as long as they match the sketch. Don't forget you can turn the sketch sideways for more options. Now let's take a peek at the IPC teams' cards.

Amy Tollner creates a bright, cheerful card just purr-fect for the book lover in one's life. She uses one of the feline images from the Newton's Book Club stamp and coordinating die set with papers from the Coffee House Stories paper pad. She adds a bit of sparkle using the lavender paper from the Cheerful Brights Glitter Cardstock Assortment and makes it into a banner using the banner die from the Frames & Flags die set. Fabulously fun!

Claire's birthday card features Newton's Birthday Trio, Birthday Time, Bookmark II, and A7 Frames & Banners by Newton's Nook Designs; #inkypaws, #newtonsnookdesigns, #newtonsnook, #cardmakingideas, #cardchallenges, #catcards, #birthdaycards, #nndstamps, #nndpapers

Claire Lamb uses the Newton's Birthday Trio stamp and coordinating die set to send birthday wishes to a loved one. She uses a trio of festive papers from the Birthday Time paper pad. To create her panels and banner, she uses dies from the Bookmark II and the A7 Frames & Banners die sets. Such a darling card!

Danni's floral card features Little Lilies, Frames & Flags, and Pastel Basics by Newton's Nook Designs; #inkypaws, #newtonsnookdesigns, #newtonsnook, #cardmakingideas, #cardchallenges, #flowercards, #floralcards, #nndstamps, #nndpaper

Danni Bindel opts for a floral card using the flower image from the Little Lilies stamp and coordinating die set. She adds papers from the Pastel Basics paper pad with dies from the Frames & Flags die set. Just love how she uses just lavender and greens to create such a beautiful card!

Debbie's birthday card features Newton's Mix Tape, Music Notes, Pastel Basics, Banner Trio, Cocktail Mixer, and Newton's Bright Birthday by Newton's Nook Designs; #inkypaws, #newtonsnookdesigns, #newtonsnook, #cardmakingideas, #cardchallenges, #birthdaycards, #catcards, #nndstamps, #nndpapers

Debbie Owens couldn't decide whether to make a feline or a canine card, so she made one of each. For her feline birthday card, she uses the music-lovin' Newton from the Newton's Mix Tape stamp set. She adds more musical touches using the Music Notes stencil to create her backdrop. She creates a banner using the yellow-striped paper from the Pastel Basics paper pad. Her finishing touches include a margarita from the Cocktail Mixer stamp set and a birthday hat from the Newton's Bright Birthday stamp.

Debbie's birthday card features Puppy's Mix Tape, New Retro, Pastel Basics, Retro Mix Toner Fronts, Banner Trio, and Cocktail Mixer by Newton's Nook Designs; #inkypaws, #newtonsnookdesigns, #newtonsnook, #cardmakingideas, #cardchallenges, #puppycards, #birthdaycards, #cocktailcards, #nndstamps, #nndpapers

For her canine version, Deb uses the puppy from the Puppy's Mix Tape stamp set with a margarita from the Cocktail Mixer stamp set. She uses the yellow-striped paper from the Pastel Basics paper pad as well as papers from the New Retro paper pack. That pink shimmery panel uses a Retro Mix Toner Front. Her banner uses a die from the Banner Trio die set. Two wonderful birthday cards for someone 21 years or older!

For our final card this week, Kelly Santi is showcasing tulips from the Tulips stamp and coordinating die set as well as the Easter Postage Sampler stamp and coordinating set. Don't you just love how you can mix and match different stamp sets for a wonderfully unique card? She uses papers from the Bright Basics and the Springtime paper pads. She uses dies from the Essential Tags, the Basic Frames, and the Sea Borders die sets. A bright and beautiful card filled with such lovely tulips!

Danni loved Christy's card so much that she CASEd it! (Danni's card) Christy used the Postage Stamp Layout die for her design and placed the yellow basket weaved paper from the Happy Easter pack. She then used the Frame & Flags die for the scallop edging. Then she used a variety of images from the Easter Postage Sampler stamp and coordinating die set for all the panels. Absolutely darling!

The simplicity of Michelle Harlamart's card caught Debbie's eye. Michelle lightly distressed an area on which she places one of the darling mice from the retired Garden Mice stamp and coordinating die set. Such a pretty CAS card!

Carrianne Banul's use of color and the cute bunny caught Kelly's eye. Carrianne used the blue striped paper form the Coffee House Stories pad with the polka dotted paper from the A Dog's Life paper pad. The look striking together! She then adds the darling bunny from the retired Hoppy Greetings stamp and coordinating die set. Too cute!

Sketches can be challenging for some crafters. An easy way to use sketches is to pull out coordinating pattern papers for your layers. Now let's see how the IPC created their layers:

A darling way to send "love" messages!

Our darling feline farmer from the Farmer Newton stamp and coordinating die set is sporting cute denim bib overalls as he poses in front of his barn (Barn die). Cuteness overload!

She then adds a combination of coffee-mugs and bookshelves using papers from the Coffee House Stories paper pad. She creates her lavender banner using the Frames & Flags die set. The start attraction is the little book-lovin' kitty from the Newton's Reading List stamp set. Coffee and a good book--a fab combination to "feline" fine!

Amy Tollner creates a bright bold Valentine's card with purple, pinks, and reds! She finds a romantic combination of papers from the Love and Meows and the Lovely Hearts paper pads. (Don't you love how the different pads can be mixed and matched? 😏) She then adds another feline couple from the Newton's Sweetheart stamp and coordinating die set. They are looking so cute with the glittery, red banner shimmering behind them! This banner was made using the banner die from the Frames and Flags. So sweet!

Claire Lamb was also feeling the love with her Valentine's card. She goes with a Kraft card base paired with gray and red papers from the Neutral Basics and the Bright Basics paper pads. (Love this color combo!😻) She then adds a single postage stamp using the Postage Stamp Layout die and the envelope image from the Valentine Postage Sampler stamp set. Simply amazing!
